FEFCO Cutting Calculator for Your Website: Show Your Clients That You're a Professional

If you're involved in packaging production or design, or work in a studio providing design or printing services, then this tool is for you.

It will expand your website's capabilities and clearly display your services to your potential clients—yes, you're a professional.

Here, we'll answer all your questions quickly and efficiently.

What is this widget?

FEFCO Standalone Widget is a ready-to-use online cutting calculator for corrugated boxes using the FEFCO catalog. The client selects the design, enters the box dimensions, and the calculator displays the blank dimensions, area, cut and creasing length, and selects the roll width with minimal waste.

It can be installed on any website—WordPress, Tilda, Wix, Bitrix, or a custom page—with just two lines of code. No server or Joomla CMS required.

You can see the calculator in action right now, without registration, here. And to see what it looks like on a real working website, check out the page of our partners – packaging manufacturers: ufipak.com.

What's inside

Catalog. 7 FEFCO groups (0200–0900): slotted boxes, telescopic boxes, tray boxes and self-assembly structures (folder-type), slide-type boxes, rigid boxes, ready-made glued boxes, and inner liners. A total of 191 designs and 204 layouts, based on catalog parameters, allow the customer to see what their selection looks like and communicate in a common language ("model 0201, here are the dimensions") without having to describe the design on multiple pages.

Initial data. Dimensions are entered as internal, external, or along score lines (score-to-score). This is a familiar logic for technologists: no manual recalculations are required.

Material and tolerances. Corrugation profile (E, B, C, BC) or native cardboard thickness, GL gluing flap, SE slot cutting gap, FE flap overlap for design 0202.

Quantity Number of products and percentage of waste due to defects and setup: the calculator shows the total cardboard area for the entire run.

Conversion. By default, the calculation is performed with the corrugation direction along the height of the box. If necessary, the sheet can be rotated 90°. This is a deliberate manual choice by the specialist, not an automatic selection, as the corrugation direction affects the creasing quality.

Result. Blank dimensions, area, cutting length (knife), creasing length, and total length of the die lines. Next are the recommended roll width and width waste.

Transparency. The widget includes a table of formulas and assumptions. The formulas are derived from EngView parametric formulas and the FEFCO/ESBO general cutting scheme; according to the developer, the values are verified with Prinect measurements. A specialist sees the source of each figure, and this inspires trust.

What does this mean for your business?

For packaging and corrugated cardboard manufacturers. The client estimates the cardboard blank and consumption and comes to you with specific dimensions and a clear request. The manager only needs to clarify the details, rather than trying to figure out from scratch what kind of box is needed. Typical questions are answered before the call.

For design studios and printing companies. You demonstrate that you understand packaging design, not just draw layouts. The client sees the technological culture: the diagram, blank dimensions, creasing and cutting lengths. This kind of discussion about price and deadlines is based on different principles.

For marketers. The calculator is useful content that the client wants to use. It keeps visitors on the page, gives them a reason to return and share the tool with colleagues, and also distinguishes the site from dozens of similar service directories. A separate page with a calculator is a natural entry point for those searching for "FEFCO box cutting," "corrugated box flattening," and similar queries.

For your website and your brand

- Language: Russian or English.
- Theme: light, dark, or automatically based on device settings.
- Colors: overridden by CSS variables to match your brand style.
- Rolls: set the widths you actually have in stock (default: 630, 700, 750, 850, 890, and 1050 mm).
- Groups: leave only the ones you need, for example, 0200 and 0300.
- Custom catalog: connect your own list JSON-formatted constructs.
- Title: you can hide it and format the page as you wish.

The files are open source, licensed under GPL 2.0-or-later: you can study and adapt the code.

Honestly about the limitations

- The page containsOne widget works.
- Cardboard prices are not included in the widget—this is a cutting calculator, not an estimate.
- Some of the captions within the engine (formula table, part names) remain in Russian even in the English version.
- It's best to check GL and SE values with a production technologist: the calculator itself reminds you of this.
- FEFCO designations are used to identify components; the project is not affiliated with FEFCO.

Need a price directly in the calculator?

This widget calculates the blank, area, cut, creasing, and roll width, but does not display the price: each manufacturer has its own prices and conditions. If you need a cost estimate for your product on your website, there's a separate FEFCO packaging calculator for Joomla (also our own development).

It lets you set cardboard prices by grade (E, B, C, BC), and the customer sees the cost next to the print run and receives a recalculation immediately upon entering the dimensions.
